GIM Network

Golden Ink Media Network for women is a creative safe space for independent women in film and television. More importantly, Black and Brown women can explore having their creations distributed on a national platform.

“GIM was created for women who are looking to finally have their work seen. As a woman of color who have had to rely on my personal finances to fund every project. I understand how it feels. You want to advance to the next level. There are many sharks out there scouting for your content, but do not want to give yo the credit. There are platforms that provide opportunities for independently created material. But, you must have a well-known distributor to help facilitate the project. That can cost thousands of dollars to obtain their services. So, many creators rely on free platforms such as, YouTube or VEVO. That’s where I started.

While there is known content to view the overall objective is to show diverse projects by the relatively unknown. I’m a firm believer in creating your opportunities. I also believe in affording opportunities to others once you’ve been granted an entrance to an unfamiliar place. GIM offers inclusion for talented women who really [deserve] to have their voices heard more often. Overall, people of color should have more diverse viewing options. Right now, there isn’t a balance in my opinion. If you offer aggressive shows, that’s fine. But, every Black woman or man can’t relate to that or may not want to constantly see just that form of art. So, they may not watch it. But if the majority does? That’s only what the networks will offer. Change that narrative by changing the position. I’ve chosen to pivot in another direction for my people.” Rae Ashe CEO GIM Network for women
