“As a future war between the human race and artificial intelligence rages on, ex-special forces agent Joshua is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI. The Creator has developed a mysterious weapon that has the power to end the war and all of mankind. As Joshua and his team of elite operatives venture into enemy-occupied territory, they soon discover the world-ending weapon is actually an AI in the form of a young child.”

The time is sets place in a war-torn future where new international borders are in reflect with the existence of humanoid machines known as “simulants,” The Creator tells the story of how ex-special forces soldier Joshua (John David Washington), who gives both an emotional and comedic performance- is pretty much forced back onto the battlefield years after swearing he’d leave it behind. As an American born decades into simulants becoming integral parts of society as specialized AI-powered workers of all sorts, Joshua understands clearly the turmoil and terror the citizens felt the day when the machines dropped a nuclear bomb on Los Angeles of their own volition years before The Creator is born. In question is who created and how does, “Alfie” played by Madeleine Yuna Voyles, exhibits human emotions and feelings which makes the small child highly above the usual AI robots.

A little humor. With a clear message if you pay close attention. Race relations. The Human race against the AI robotic life form. Who is really the enemy of mankind? Or AI Kind?

The government or the human like machines? You may find yourself conflicted as you watch the story unfold. The special effects are all but amazing. From ‘NOMAD’ to the prodigious law enforcement vehicles. The one thing that takes me back a bit is the year when all of this happens, which is 2065. That’s actually not far away when you think about it.

This film is definitely a must see if you’re into high octane action, a moderate love story with great acting.

Supporting cast includes; Madeleine Yuna Voyles (Alfie) Gemma Chan(Maya), Ken Watanabe (Harun), Sturgill Simpson (Drew), Amar Chadha-Patel (Simulants), Allison Janney (Howell), Marc Menchaca (McBride), Danny McBride, Ralph Ineson (Andrews).

The Creator is in theaters September 29th.
