Studio Rousseau Unveils 'The Art of Couture' Exhibition at NYFW

New York- Studio Rousseau, the prominent creative studio known for its innovative and artistic contributions in various creative realms, including art and fashion, made its debut at NYFW on September 9th, with an opening reception. Merging art and fashion seamlessly in a four-day exhibit, the event welcomed media and guests to mingle with the artist and designer behind the show, enjoy light bites from popular restaurant, Fish Cheeks, and colorful cocktails from alcohol sponsor, Delola. Studio Rousseau's abstract creations served as interpretations of Five of the Top 10 Designers to Watch in 2023 from London's Central Saint Martins. Each renowned for their distinctive approach and innovative designs, these esteemed designers include Carson Lovett, Cathy Meyong, Eden Tan, Ivan Delogu, and Yuet Ting Ng. Carson Lovett was present for the exhibit, bringing with him an expert outlook on the vision behind his designs as well as a piece from his show which was displayed next to the corresponding artwork.

CR Rousseau’s use of a vibrant, often analogous color palette combined with subtle gradients and delicate brushwork creates captivating environments reminiscent of moments found in the natural world. The dream-like quality, achieved through layering colors, skillfully depicts depth and dimension, while evoking emotions and memories in viewers. Although abstract, each work approaches representation in its suggestive and atmospheric forms, simultaneously precise and expressive, Rousseau can bring to mind everything from runway fashion moments to choppy ocean waters to the curves and angles of the human form.



During the exhibit, scenes from the Central Saint Martins fashion show were projected across the walls, elevating the viewer experience and showcasing the convergence between the designer's work on screen and the interpretive abstract pieces in the space.
