Salt -N- Pepa receive star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
Cheryl James, Sandra Denton and Deidra Roper set yet another milestone for the world and genre of Rap music. New York’s very own ground breaking female trio received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, November 4th. The reunion was the first public appearance by all three members since 2019.
DJ Spinderella talked briefly about the ups and downs that the group experienced. “We been through it, ups and downs, life lessons.”
In 2019 James and Denton released a made for television biopic about their journey. Roper publicly shared her disappointment in the limited visibility of her portrayal in the Lifetime Television release.

This was also the same year where a judge dismissed the DJ’s case against her group members with prejudice. In the lawsuit, Spinderella sued Salt and Pepa for unpaid royalties, multiple breaches of contract and fraud after she was allegedly fired from the group in an email. The case was dismissed with prejudice—meaning that Spinderella cannot refile her claims—in December 2019, according to court documents.
Salt and Pepa were grateful for the honor as they reflected on their careers. "Keep the faith," Salt told the crowd. "Your setback is a setup for your comeback."
Meanwhile, Pepa said she'd "never thought" the group would receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. "It was dedication. It was hard work," she said. "I was in the studio hours, days, nights, weeks."
