Everything You Need to Know About Travelling to Hawaii

If I were a billionaire, I would move to Hawaii, buy a huge mansion, and raise my own chickens.
At least that’s what I thought when I first visited Hawaii. Over the last few years, my plan has become firmer. Enough for me to tell you all about my Hawaii obsession.
In case you have never been to Hawaii, I would not recommend it.
Not because it is not the best place on Eearth and a literal paradise, but because I do not want you to get obsessed with Hawaii just like I am.
In case you have already planned to visit Hawaii and there is no way I can change your mind, then I have a list of dos and don’ts for you.
This write-up will mainly help you avoid all the basic mistakes that most travelers make.
Moreover, you will also get to know some budget tips to save money during your trip.
Take It Easy on the First Day
One of the biggest misconceptions about Hawaii is that you will not face jet lag.
My family and I went with the same mindset, and so we booked a tour on the first day. Within just a few hours of landing and unpacking, everyone went to sleep, missing the tour.
So, if you don’t want to repeat the same mistake, make sure you take it easy on the first day.
Another key consideration is to check the flight duration before travelling. In case it is anywhere less than 4 hours, you don’t need to worry about jet lag. However, anywhere above 4 hours means you need to stay prepared.
Internet and Phone
While travelling to Hawaii from the US, you do not have to buy an actual SIM or get an internet connection. Technically, putting your phone on roaming will do the trick; h, so there is no need to buy a new SIM at all.
During my stay, the hotel offered us free Wi-FI, and since they were relying on .
Hawaiian Telcom, there were no signal issues. . As a legacy brand in the region, Hawaiian Telcom covers all the regions of the island and works as a reliable telecom partner.
So, within the resort, free hotel Wi-Fi was enough for me to stay connected. aAnd while travelling out of the hotel premises, I relyied on roaming for activities that weren’t data-intensive, such as checking emails or using Google Maps.
Added Charges
In most accommodation packages, you just get a bedroom and basic necessities. However, a few added benefits are not included in the package, like parking and resort. Since Hawaii is a culturally rich place, people travel here with family and like to participate in different activities. The resort fee will help you participate in all these activities.
In case you are planning your budget, keep the extra charges in mind. In addition, you can research the different activities offered at your hotel and the possible resort and partner fees they charge.
Book in Advance
Hawaii is a fun place, a literal heaven on earth. This is the reason you will see people coming here from everywhere, and public places filled with people. So, unless you are travelling in the off-season, make sure to book everything in advance. Advance booking especially applies to the tours and local activity classes.
Moreover, taking time to research will help you know about the best activities and tour options that are not fully booked yet. Maybe if you are lucky, you might even land an early bird discount. In fact, most tours get booked within a few days, so make sure to book at least one week in advance.
Pack for Everything
Understanding the Hawaii weather is very important while packing. Most people know that Hawaii is filled with beaches and lush greenery, so they assume it will be all warm.
During my first visit, I bought a lot of cotton shirts, shorts, and linen pants. However, I later found out that you can’t check the weather of the whole island as it has both warm (leeward side) and cold climates (windward side).
In some regions of Hawaii, you will experience a lot of wind, rain, and cold. On the contrary, there are warm areas where you can have fun at the beach.
Moreover, there are areas for stargazing that are quite cold, so you don’t want to be roaming around in linen pants there. It is better to pack at least a few pairs of sweatpants and jackets to avoid these risky situations.
Simply put, travelling to new places is always fun, but make sure to plan it well, especially if you are travelling with friends, family, and kids. A well-planned trip will help you avoid a lot of issues related to budget and time management.
